CBT Motorcycle Course For Novice Riders
If you're over 17, an A1 license lets you loose your L plates, ride a scooter, or a small motorcycle, and carry a pillion rider.
Two-day course with no tests. This is a great first introduction to riding. It focuses on reviewing the most important components of a bicycle as well as slow exercises for controlling.
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
The CBT is a mandatory course for all riders who are new to the sport. It usually takes a whole day to complete. If you reach an acceptable level by the end of the course your instructor will give you a DL196 certificate of the course's completion.
In this class you will be taught the fundamentals of operating a motorcycle. paragrafy kategorii a1 will be supervised throughout the day by an experienced instructor. You will also be given a brief training session that will inform you about the code of conduct and rules of the road and safe position of the lane. You will learn how to maintain and check your bike and how to transport passengers (if necessary).
The next element of the CBT is on-site riding. Your instructor will mark an area that is safe where you can practice your skills. You will start off slowly and work through basic safety checks prior to moving off and stopping the bike and stopping properly. During this time, your trainer will be in radio contact with you and assist until they are confident that you are able to perform these exercises at a safe level.
This portion of the course introduces you to the different types and conditions of roads and traffic. You'll learn to safely navigate roundabouts, traffic lights and one-way streets. You'll also learn the basics of cornering and how to execute figure of 8 and emergency stop.
This is the last part of the CBT. Your instructor will take you on a variety different routes. You'll be in contact with your instructor, who will be monitoring your progress at all times. You'll receive the CBT DL196 Certificate when you successfully demonstrate that you are able to handle a motorcycle and deal with different road situations.
CBT has been around for quite a time, but it's still an important part of motorcycling. We continue to see improvements in accident statistics ever since the introduction of CBT. It is important that you select a motorcycle school that provides complete CBT courses to ensure that you are fully prepared and ready to go into the world of motorbikes on two wheels.
Theory of Module 1 Test
The first step towards getting an A1 license is passing the motorcycle theory test. This 40-minute test assesses your knowledge of traffic rules, road signals, and general safety. It is highly recommended to go over the Highway Code before taking this test to increase your chances of success.
The day after your CBT, you will start your first module of training on the test-capacity bike for your license category. If you're aiming for an A1, this will be a Honda Monkey. The course includes plenty of off-road control and balance practice to prepare you the required manoeuvres for the module 1 test. You will also visit the DVSA test centre to become familiar with the marking and procedures associated with each test.
At the end of your course, you will be able to take your module 1 test at a DVSA approved motorcycle test centre. You will require your CBT certificate, as well as a valid passport or driving licence with photo.
After passing Module 1 You will then move on to the Module 2 practical test which will be conducted on the road. The examiner will lead you on a short drive around the area, and you'll have 35 minutes to complete the test on your own. The examiner will assess your ability to multitask while following road signs and will require you to demonstrate excellent driving skills.
After passing both Module 1 and Module 2, you'll be able have the freedom of an A1 light licence. This will permit you to ride a bicycle up to 125cc, without a learner licence, and will remove the need to display your L-plates. A1 licenses also permit you to ride with a passenger and you won't have to take the CBT every two years. This is an excellent option for those who wish to share the excitement of motorcycling. The next step from an A1 license is the A license that is unrestricted and requires a driver's licence that is fully loaded.
Module 2: Practical Test
After you've passed Module 1 and your theory test, you can take the practical part of your motorcycle licence - Module 2. This test will give you an A1 licence that allows you to ride a motorcycle that is 125cc or larger with power up to 11 BHP. You can also travel on motorways and carry passengers.
The Mod 2 test is an independent riding test that lasts approximately 10 minutes. The examiner will follow you on a predetermined road route that has varying traffic and road conditions. The route will include busy junctions, roundabouts, and dual carriageways and you'll need to be able to travel in various conditions.
Module 2 will test your ability to recognize, anticipate and navigate through busy roads. This is important as it will allow you to make decisions on the fly when out on the open road. For instance, if driving along the road and see a car swerving towards your path, you will need to be able to react quickly.
You'll also be expected to demonstrate a good speed control for example, being able to pull away smoothly, stop with confidence and maintain speed. You should also be able to demonstrate good braking, and execute a controlled U turn when required.
Then, you'll be tested on your ability to signal and shift gears. You will be asked to signal before overtaking another vehicle, and when exiting a intersection, and switch gears when needed.
Once you've passed both parts of the Module 2 test, you'll be sent your A1 license in the mail. You'll then be able ride your new bike around the countryside or commute to work in style and in comfort. The new A1 licence is your ticket to adventure and freedom, whether you ride an ultramoto or a scooter.
Licensing
This course is designed for those who have already completed Module 1 & 2 and wish to enhance their riding abilities and build a relationship with their bike. It typically involves more advanced training and exercises such as observing your turns and leaning to control your bike at higher speeds. It also covers hazard prevention and high speed cornering, as well braking and braking at high speeds. You will spend six hours on the road with a Ride Coach and you are able to choose your own bike for this course.
This is a great option for drivers who aren't sure if a full license is what they really want. It comes with all the training you need, including the Module 1 & 2 tests as well as off-road maneuvers for your Cat A licence, so it provides everything you need to get on the road without having to pass the theory test first.
You will begin on an e-bike to get comfortable with your riding posture and your balance before moving on to a larger bike for your level. It is typically a 500cc motorbike. You will be provided with your own bike and helmet for this class.
The BRC is an intensive 5-day course designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a certified motorcycle driver in Tennessee. After successful completion of the BRC can waive the written and driving tests at the TN Department of Motor Vehicles.
You must be 16 years old to complete the Basic RiderCourse. If you are under 18 years old you must have a signature from a parent or guardian on both the Covid Release, Waiver and Indemnification forms (click here) and the Motorcycle Safety Program Parent/Guardian Agreement form. Your guardian or parent will also have to complete the MSF ecourse before attending your BRC course.
